Heat Treatment:
Solution Treatment: 1975-2025°F / 2 hrs + Air Cool
Stabilization Heat Treatment: 1425 – 1475°F / 2-4 hrs + Air Cool
Precipitation Heat Treatment: 1325 – 1375 / 24 hrs +Any Cool
At Tubewell strengthening of super alloys is performed by solid-solution hardening, work hardening, and precipitation hardening methods and so for Nimonic 901.
Therefore, ASTM B463 Nimonic 901 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy that is precipitation hardened using heat treatment. Alloy 901 is favored for use in oxidizing environments with temperatures of about 593°C (1100°F).
UNS N09901 material Alloy 901 is an age-hardenable super alloy which contains Titanium and Aluminum for precipitation hardening and molybdenum for solid-solution strengthening. Nimonic Alloy 901 has high yield strength and creep resistance at temperatures 1110°F (600°C). This Alloy Nr. 901 has a significant amount of iron content which enables it to combine strength with good forging characteristics. Commonly used applications are for gas turbine engine discs, shafts, rings, casings, seals etc.
There are 3 types of Heat Treatments performed such as
- Solution Treatment: 1975-2025°F / 2 hrs + Air Cool
- Stabilization Heat Treatment: 1425 - 1475°F / 2-4 hrs + Air Cool
- Precipitation Heat Treatment: 1325 - 1375 / 24 hrs +Any Cool.
